What is extraction?
Extraction enables you to display the options of a question based on the options selected for the previous question. For example:

The following question without extraction will be displayed as follows:

If the respondent selects options AOL and Earthlink for question 1 then the extracted question (i.e. question 2) will be displayed as follows:

(Only the options selected by the respondent will be displayed on the Survey)
How to setup Extraction for a multiple choice - select many type question?
To set up extraction, go to:
- Login » Surveys » (Select Survey) » Edit Survey » Add/Edit Questions » Fly Out Menu » Logic
- For the source question (e.g. question 1 from above example) click on the Logic button.
- Select Extraction from Logic Types
- Select Extraction Type
- Simple Extraction: Target question will display selected options.
- Reverse Extraction: Target question will display options that were not selected.
- Select Question Type to Extract to
- Multiple Choice
- Open-Ended Text
- Ordering - Rank Order
- Ordering - Drag & Drop
- Ordering - Constant Sum
- Rating - Star Rating
- Matrix Table - Multi-Point Scales
- Slider - Numeric
- Click on the Save Logic button

The destination question will be automatically inserted into your survey. You can Edit the destination question as per your requirements.
Extraction is available only for Multiple Choice - Select Many and Matrix Table type questions.
Can I re-order the extracted question?
Yes. It is possible to re-order the extracted question to anywhere in the survey after the source question (The question from which you extract). However, once you re-order the extracted question you will need to set up branching logic on the source question to go to the appropriate question.
